To Lilly Fair

I was told I had a choice today
to let you live or die
There's not much hope of me saving you,
The means aren't there for me you see,
I did all that I could.

My lovely girl, your leaving me
your companionship was good.
I love you enough to let you go
as the tears stream down my face.
I know the pain you're in,
I see it on your face.

I never thougth to write like this
a love of my furry friend,
but, she means the world to me,
so maybe some of you will understand.

Lilly Fair, is grace in motion, a grey hound,
who was saved, but, now she runs for herself,
not someone who was being paid.
You see it in her being, the joy she got from this.

An accident ensuing, breaking her leg like this.
The help I received was gracious caring, beyond measure, heart overflowing with thanksgiving

A broken bone, deterred her,
help was on the way.
We tried my dear, to do this,
but, money wasn't there to pay.

I reliquished you back, to save you,
as I look at you hobbling away, my tears for you still flowing. But, knowing you will be saved.
I'm told you'll be readopted, by someone else who will care.
It won't be me, you'll run to in the mornings,
for I will not be there.

I love you enough to let you go but,
this emptiness inside,
won't heal anytime quickly,
with you not at my side.

Our Echo is now lonely,
he's been whimpering all day.
You touched more lives by being here
now that your gone away.
Lilly Fair, I'll miss you,
more then these mere words can say.
